Americans need single-payer health care
June 26, 2009
Our nation needs health care reform. We are the only industrialized nation without single payer. Recent polls show the majority of Americans are in favor of such a plan.
The main deterrent blocking this action is the lobbying by pharmaceutical and insurance companies and the millions of dollars they feed to both political parties. As a moral and religious society we need to demand that every citizen be covered under this plan.
A major source to fund single payer lies inside Wall Street. The Wall Street Journal reported that in 2008, nearly $5 trillion in derivative trading occurred. By putting a 2 percent tax on this trading nearly $10 trillion could be raised each year. We pay 6 percent in sales tax to buy life's necessities, taxing speculators will help pay our life's insurance.
Under this plan, Americans will profit, companies will profit and our school systems will profit. We need to tell Congress to close the door on lobbying handouts and put our nations health needs over their political greed.
Here is my reply to him.
Steven Smith , first off I see you are listening to the Soros funded groups who sent out emails to Obama contributors telling them to write letters to the editor of their local paper. Same emails that told people to organize again and agitate for single-payer health care. Talk about being mind-numbed robots. Obama is talking about costs, that means lower the quality or deny procedures that would prolong an individuals life in favor of, as Obama himself put it, "take some pain medication." That was his answer, take pain meds instead of having the procedure.
I could go on and give many examples of Canadians not getting good health care or the British but I will leave Steven Smith with just one question.
How is it that when the Obama says when need more money for education instead of cutting education costs but he then says we need to cut costs of everyone's health care, people like yourself do not see the disconnect here? One other item Steven Smith, approximately 10-15 million people do not have health insurance. The number you give is one that includes illegal aliens and people who choose not to have health insurance. There are already government plans such as Medicare that are for people who, throught means testing, receive health insurance. Those government-run programs are in trouble and you want to put everyone into the same sinking ship. Liberal groups and the media throw the 48 million out there without even checking the facts.
Oh and one more point Steven Smith, over 60% of Americans are AGAINST a single -payer plan, if you read the entire poll that you quote you would have seen this. Instead you rely on talking points sent by George Soros funded organizations.
If the government is going to take over my individual health plan then the government is in total control of my life. I will in legal terms become a ward of the state. That is not what American principles are about.
This would mean that the government will control my health from birth, indoctrinate children in public schools, tell them what they can drive, where they can live and how much money they can make. This would be in reference to Obama deciding how much money a person can EARN, which he has done through the TARP program.
Liberals like yourself Steven are the problem.
By the way, Wall Street is where people invest their private money so if they EARN a profit that is their business Steven, not yours or the government, so you really are saying that Obama should increase taxes on individuals who EARN money in the stock market. Your class warfare schtick is old. Individuals who put money in IRA's or other stocks are all speculators Steven. Are you this ignorant of macro economics? No to government control of our lives!
